$1 Billion for Affordable Housing

While on the City Council, Eric helped secure $1 billion in funding to make housing more attainable for Sacramento families, including a new 130-unit development that is 100% affordable. Because families can't put down roots in a place they can't afford.

Meet Eric Guerra

Eric Guerra began working in the fields at age five, in order to help his family make ends meet. It’s where he learned what it means to earn something the hard way and provide for others.

A product of public schools, Eric seized the  opportunity to make a better life for himself and his family. He excelled, becoming the first in his family to go to college.

Eric would not give up on his dreams, no matter the challenges. He worked full-time while putting himself through Sacramento State University. Those challenges include sleeping in his car because he could not afford housing. Along the way, he fulfilled his dream of becoming a U.S. citizen.

Eric Guerra Sacramento City Council

His ability to overcome these obstacles inspired him to give back to the community to help others.  He ran for Sacramento City Council, focused on the fundamentals: safer streets, housing families could actually afford, and good jobs with fair wages.

Family is everything to Eric. He and his wife are raising their two kids in Sacramento because he knows it is a great city for families. That is why he fights for every family in our community the same way he’d fight for his own.
